Crane Limit Switches : Are they really Safety Measures in EOT Cranes & Electric Hoists ?
Limit Switches : Limit Switches are used to Restrict the Operation to certain Desired Level and as such preventing chances of Accidents. Crane Safety measures are fixed by Crane Limit Switches.
Adjustments and Settings of Limit Switches are the parameters through which the auto cut off power can be achieved and Machine comes to rest.
Small Devices in construction but increased Safety Level is adopted by these Limit Switches.
Up and Down - Two Limit Switches are incorporated in Hoisting Motion when snap Action Limit Switches are used.
Or One Gear or Rotary Gear Limit Switch is enough for Up and down Motion. Both the Motions are made limited by adjustment of Gear Ratio.
Counter Weight or Gravity Limit Switch is mostly used to restrict UPWARD Motion.
Along with UP & DOWN Limit Switch, Gravity Limit Switch is used in UPWARD direction as an ENHANCED Safety.
Cross Travel - Two Limit Switches are incorporated for controlling Hoisting Motion when snap Action Limit Switches are used.
Or One Lever or Long Lever Limit Switch is enough for controlling extreme Left or Right Motion. Both the Motions are made limited by internal NO / NC Blocks.
Long Travel - Controlling Long Travel Motion is normally done by Long Lever Limit Switch. Cross Bar Limit Switch is used in Long Travel Motion to stop Crane in Two Steps.
10 Amperes & 40 Amperes are the most commonly used Ratings in Limit Switches.
Nos. of NO/NC Blocks can vary in Limit Switches as per the Requirement of Customers.
