End Carriages

Drive Trolleys of EOT Crane : How to get Designed Optimized End Carriages ?

Are Two Nos. of Trolleys fixed at each end of the Main Girder.

End Carriages are Steel Fabricated Load sustaining Members of Crane. Crane Loading diagram passes through the End Carriages to the Crane Running Girders and in turn to the Column.

Two Sides End Carriages drive the Crane on Crane Running Girders.

Main Beam / Main Girder or Main Box is fastened by Bolts at both the Ends to End Carriages on Bearing Plates. Bearing Plates are important Load Bearing Members of End Carriages.

End Carriage Design consideration is of equal importance to that of Main Beam Design Consideration and deserves due regards in EOT Crane design.

Crane Running Girders also called Gantry Girders are designed on the Basis of Wheel Load of End Carriages.

Wheels, Shafts or Axles, Fabricated Structure, Bearing Plates, Buffers & Buffers Plates, Gear Box Motors, Bearings and Bearing Housings and Fabricated Platforms are main parts of End Carriages.

Unlike Railway wheels, Crane Wheels are Double Flange Wheels. Crane runs on Single Track and never need to change the Track and so Double Flange wheels are used and these Double Flange Wheels also prevent De-railing of the Crane.

Wheel Base - Distance Between Two wheels on End Carriages is of also importance and that is why Indian Standards has defined the Minimum requirement of Wheel Base in IS - 807, IS - 4137 Code of Practice for EOT Crane.
